Chapter 10, Friends come from afar

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Once upon a time, Ye Zhiqiu still held the binoculars. At this moment, the sunlight shone from behind them, so there was no need to worry about the lens glare startling others. However, this binocular only had a four-times zoom, and the lens was still of civilian grade. Ye Zhiqiu felt certain that he could find the words "made in China" from some corner.

He saw that the two Hummers had caught up with the two pedestrians, right in front of the convenience store

"Have you ever seen a scout pushing a shopping cart?" Jill asked bluntly

Nicole and Jill were not downstairs. Ye Zhiqiu thought the two were still dawdling, and couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed. Then he noticed the bathroom door was open, with water marks extending towards the stairs, and immediately guessed that they might have gone upstairs to look for clothes. Thinking of the alluring figures of his two companions, Ye Zhiqiu suddenly felt his heart racing. He scolded himself for thinking about this at such a time, and then dashed upstairs. Upon seeing the master bedroom door open, he rushed over.

Upon hearing him say this, the two women became anxious. Without time to consider whether Ye Zhiqiu was telling the truth, Nicole, wrapped in a towel, poked her head out, only to find that Ye Zhiqiu was indeed not at the door. She quickly grabbed the clothes on the floor and retreated, asking Jill: "What should we do?"

Indeed, Jill naturally responded to him: "Please help us, there is a wardrobe in the master bedroom on the second floor of the building, bring down two sets of pajamas for us." It turned out that these two individuals only realized they had not brought any change of clothes after finishing their shower. Although it is a time of chaos, our heroines should not have too high expectations, yet a woman's innate obsession with cleanliness began to take effect at this moment. Neither of them was willing to put on dirty clothes to go upstairs to find clean ones, so Jill naturally called out to Ye Zhiqiu.

Jill felt a strange sensation from the clothes draped over her body, yet she said, "Unless that is a Japanese woman"

Upon hearing her words, Nicole began to hesitate. Gilqi said, "Open the door! How can he deliver the clothes if you don't open the door?"

Nicole did not expect him to return so quickly, and was startled, letting out a gasp, almost firing at Ye Zhiqiu. However, Jill was more composed, whispering, "Don't make a noise." Then he beckoned Ye Zhiqiu to come over.

Ye Zhiqiu glanced at her and thought to himself that Japanese men might find her too robust, then he nodded and said, "Aren't they all in the same group?"

Nicole glanced at her: "What should we do if he comes in?"

The houses in the small town are arranged quite irregularly, and this particular house stands out, which is also the reason why Ye Zhiqiu chose it first. The layout of the master bedroom is excellent; standing by the window, one can see the road coming from the direction of Anchorage. Now, as Ye Zhiqiu looks out the window, he can just make out two figures approaching from a distance. Although his eyesight is quite good, they are still too far away for him to distinguish clearly, only vaguely identifying them as one tall and one short person, who are pushing a cart.

Ye Zhiqiu let out an awkward sound. Nicole was dressed relatively neatly; although it was evident that her clothes did not fit quite right, there was nothing to criticize. Jill, on the other hand, seemed to be entirely focused on the view outside the window, having carelessly thrown on a pair of long pants and a tank top. Since she was still wet, the tank top was not pulled down, exposing a large expanse of her back muscles.

While the two individuals were still dawdling inside, Ye Zhiqiu had already grown anxious. Amidst the sound of water, he could not clearly hear what the two were murmuring about, but he guessed it was not anything serious. Therefore, he knocked on the door a couple more times and said loudly: "Hurry up and come out, someone is here. I will go out to take a look, and the clothes are placed by the door."

Ye Zhiqiu reads quickly; Hawking's popular science books are richly illustrated, making them not too difficult for him to read. He soon reached Chapter 5, when he heard Jill calling him

"Are you saying that the person who took the ride is not a good person?" Nicole asked softly

Nicole hesitated for a moment and shook her head, saying, "I think he is different from ordinary people"

I did not say that anyone is a good person. With a soft correction, Ye Zhiqiu then instructed Nicole to stand by the window and continue observing whether anyone was coming along the road. He took Jill to the side of the house facing the street and carefully looked down.

Ye Zhiqiu acknowledged that she had a point, but it was strange that even if she was right, there was no need to speak so harshly. He had not offended her. He reached out to take the binoculars he had casually picked up from the sofa earlier and said, "Two military Hummers, without reinforced armor. The first vehicle has four people, the second has three, all armed with automatic weapons, but no heavy firepower is visible."

God. Jill rolled her eyes: I will cheer for you.

Jill grabbed a piece of clothing, only to realize it was a long nightgown. She muttered a curse and then draped the garment over herself, saying: "What else can I do? I’ll go upstairs to find something to wear. Do you expect me to go out in this?"

Ye Zhiqiu answered loudly and walked over to ask through the door: "Do you need someone to help you with your bath?" At the same time, he silently despised the clumsiness of English, as this sentence, when translated directly into English, would be "Do you need help?"

Jill shook her head: "Even if he falls, I will not feel sympathy for him; I can already guess what he is thinking right now"

The two cars were moving quickly, and in the blink of an eye, they reached the town entrance. At this moment, Ye Zhiqiu dared not stand in front of the window and look out brazenly, as anyone who raised their head could see him. He pulled Jill and Nicole down, whispering, "They might be chasing the two people ahead, or they could just be coincidentally traveling the same route. I don't care about that. But these guys are armed; I saw two shotguns and two M16s... No, wait, they are AR15s, with 20-round magazines. Unless Alaskans all enjoy being aggressive, I don't think their weapons are legal."

Ye Zhiqiu wanted to say, "You are not my wife, so handle your own affairs." However, after some thought, he obediently went upstairs. Listening to his footsteps fade away, Jill snapped his fingers and said to Nicole, "You are right, Chinese men are easy to get along with"

"Unless he is not a man," Jill said disdainfully. Just after she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door

At this moment, Ye Zhiqiu had already jumped out of the house. The two individuals were still some distance away from the town, and Ye Zhiqiu was not afraid of them hearing the engine noise. He quickly started the car and drove it into the yard behind the small building. In America, almost every household has a car, so parking one in the yard was not particularly conspicuous. He initially intended to go back and clean up the corpse of that zombie, but calculating the time, it would be difficult to accomplish anything before the two individuals arrived. Therefore, he decided not to return and went directly back into the house.

Ye Zhiqiu and the librarian frowned and said, "Is this a child?" Among the two people walking, one was shorter in stature; although wrapped in thick clothing, it was still evident that this person did not resemble an adult

Ye Zhiqiu picked up a coat and draped it over her shoulders. Looking out the window, she happened to see two people hurriedly pushing a shopping cart into the town. Behind them, on the road, two open-top jeeps were speeding towards them.

The master bedroom of the Americans is quite spacious, undoubtedly the largest and best-lit room. Ye Zhiqiu entered the room, opened the wardrobe, and then noticed some faded bloodstains on the carpet beneath his feet. He frowned and, as he raised his eyes, suddenly spotted two figures approaching on the road outside the window.

Jill was drying her hair with a large towel in the bathroom when she heard a sound and glanced at Nicole, who said with concern, "He won't fall, will he?"

Ye Zhiqiu furrowed her brow, her gaze falling on the P150 parked in front of the convenience store downstairs. If one only looked at the disordered convenience store, one could only conclude that someone had been there. However, upon seeing the pickup truck loaded with items, anyone would realize that someone was still in town. Thus, Ye Zhiqiu casually pulled out two pajamas from the wardrobe, exited the bedroom, and leaped down the stairs, landing with a thud.

Nicole naturally looked out the window as he instructed, but Jill withdrew her gaze and scrutinized Ye Zhiqiu: "Are you a soldier?"
